Rowan Williams has said conservative Christians who cite the Bible to condemn homosexuality are misreading a key passage written by Saint Paul almost 2,000 years ago.
Welcome to the party Rowan, better late than never at all.
He was addressing theology students in Toronto, said an oft-quoted passage in Paul’s Epistle to the Romans meant to warn Christians not to be self-righteous when they see others fall into sin.Usually people stop reading at the end of Chapter One which talks alot about sin in general (envy, greed, lying, gay sex.. the usual hits) before it says this “You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things”. The passage takes on a whole new meaning. Paul warns readers not to condemn those who ignore God’s word.
