The Man Booker Prize longlist has been announced. 13 novels.
The winner will be announced on the 6th October 2009. That gives us 70 days to read the 13 novels.
Here’s the long list:
The Children’s Book by AS Byatt
Summertime by JM Coetzee
The Quickening Maze by Adam Foulds
How to paint a dead Man by Sarah Hall
The Wilderness by Samantha Harvey
Me Cheeta by James Lever
Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel
The Glass Room by Simon Mawer
Not Untrue & Not Unkind by Ed O’Loughlin
Heliopolis by James Scudamore
Brooklyn by Colm Tóibín
Love and Summer by William Trevor
The Little Stranger Sarah Waters
I’m going to have a crack at doing this and doing it through my local library in Birmingham. (If any publishers or newspapers are reading this and fancy furnishing me with copies of the books feel free to get in touch and I’ll review them on my blog or in your fine paper.)
Already I’ve found that Me Cheeta and Love and Summer are both lacking copies in the local library.
I’ve also just disovered that there’s a limit to the number of reservations that can be placed at one time. Got this error message: “We regret that you are unable to reserve this title as you have placed as many reservations as you are allowed.”
Oh dear, oh dear.
Blogging & twitter community I need your help.
